COVID-19 Health and Safety Policies

As federal and state authorities prepare to end public health emergencies relating to COVID-19, Babson is taking important steps to align with these agencies and transition to the next phase of supporting the health and well-being of our community.

Effective May 11, 2023, the College will strongly recommend that campus community members continue to stay up to date on COVID vaccines but will no longer require COVID vaccination as a condition of enrollment or employment.

Anyone who is not feeling well or experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 should remain at home and not come to campus/attend in-person class.

Students

All new and returning students will be required to adhere to the immunization guidelines of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health prior to the academic year start. Throughout the year, we will host Flu and COVID-19 vaccine clinics to help our community easily access vaccines.

As our policies evolve to incorporate greater personal responsibility and risk assessment, we will maintain important protocols that must be followed if you test positive for COVID-19:

  • We encourage students to review current CDC/MA DPH guidance should they test positive or believe that they may have been exposed to someone who is positive.
  • You are asked to contact Health Services to inform them of your status.
  • For additional information, please visit the Massachusetts Department of Public Health
  • Symptomatic students will have access to rapid testing in Health Services.

Faculty & Staff

We continue to recommend all community members stay informed regarding updated CDC and Mass. Dept. of Public Health guidelines for vaccinations and managing respiratory illness including COVID-19 and Influenza. In the fall, we will again host a Flu and COVID-19 vaccine clinic providing on-campus access to vaccines.

Additionally, we will maintain protective measures, even if regulations no longer require us to do so, including upgrades to our ventilation systems and offering N-95 mask fitting to faculty and staff under the ADA accommodation process. Should you need further information regarding ADA, please email accommodations@babson.edu.

As our policies evolve to incorporate greater personal responsibility and risk assessment, we will maintain important protocols that must be followed if you have symptoms of a respiratory illness, or you test positive for a respiratory illness:

  • You will need to self-isolate until you have been fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication and your symptoms are improving per the state guidelines. After completing your isolation, you can resume normal activity with certain precautions. For at least the first 5 days after you resume normal activities, take these extra precautions:
    • Avoid crowded indoor spaces. Wear a mask anytime you are indoors around other people.
    • Wash your hands often with soap and warm water. If soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol.
    • Avoid spending time with people who are at increased risk for severe disease.
  • You are encouraged to contact Jessie Bernstein, Employee Nurse Practitioner, at employeehealth@babson.edu to inform her of your status, as she can provide guidance and answer any questions you may have.
  • For additional information, please visit the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

Visitors, Vendors, & Suppliers

Visitors, vendors, and suppliers who feel sick or who are experiencing any symptoms of respiratory illness must contact their host/department and should not come to campus.
