Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about in-person and online programming
We offer online and in-person options. Students can enroll in the fully online format (the Babson course) OR the in-person format (the Babson course + Programming at NEIA).
The program is for rising high school juniors and seniors. Each applicant must be 16 or older by the start of the program. Unfortunately, we are unable to make exceptions to the eligibility requirements.
As part of the application for Babson Summer Study, students must demonstrate English proficiency. We accept the results of: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language); IELTS (International English Language Test Service) examination; the Duolingo English Test; or the Cambridge Assessment English Qualifications. Students must have a minimum TOEFL score of 90 or an equivalent score on one of the other assessments.
You are NOT required to submit an English test score if: English is your native language; or English is the language of instruction at your school.
In the application, you will provide contact information for a school official who will be notified and asked to upload your official transcript. Your application is not complete until your transcript has been received. Transcripts must be received by the application deadline.
The application fee and deposit are nonrefundable.
Yes, absolutely. Please don’t let this deter you from applying to the Babson Undergraduate Program.
Have questions about the in-person experience?
The health and safety of our students is a top priority. We have a full-time nurse on-site throughout the program, and our chef takes great care to accommodate food allergies and dietary needs. Every student’s wellbeing is closely supported to ensure a safe and positive experience.
NEIA’s residential life team lives on campus and provides 24-hour supervision and support, fostering a safe, welcoming, and inclusive community.
Residential students enjoy double-occupancy dorm rooms with en suite bathrooms, three meals daily, supervised evening activities, weekend excursions, and access to NEIA’s athletic and creative spaces.
Yes. Residential students enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner in NEIA’s dining hall. Day students receive lunch and snacks each day.
Yes. NEIA provides transportation to and from the airport on arrival and departure days, with advance notice required to ensure proper coordination and support.
The daily schedule balances learning, recreation, and rest:
- Mornings begin with breakfast in the dining hall at 7:30 a.m.
- The Babson course takes place from 8–11 a.m. Monday–Friday.
- In the afternoon, students can participate in co-curricular programming or join recreational activities with peers. These options allow students to either extend their learning or relax and enjoy time with friends in a fun, social environment. Evenings wrap up with goodnights at 11 p.m., ensuring students are well rested and energized for the following day.
- Students will visit the Babson College campus 2–3 times during the program.
- On weekends, students take part in field trips around Boston and enjoy recreational activities that blend fun, culture, and exploration.
International student-specific questions
To participate in the In-person format of Summer Study, international students must request a Form I-20 from Babson to apply for an F-1 student visa OR be in the U.S. already in F-1 student immigration status (enrolled at another U.S. institution permitted to pursue “Concurrent Enrollment”). Instructions for obtaining and I-20 and visa will be sent to deposited international students after the deposit deadline. See Key Dates for deposit deadlines.
No. International students attending the In-person format of Summer Study must have a U.S. immigration status that permits full-time study in the U.S. F-1 student immigration status is the most common. Students outside the U.S. will need to apply for an F-1 student visa after receiving a Form I-20 from Babson. Questions about U.S. immigration statuses or visas can be directed to Babson’s International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) at isss@babson.edu.
If you are attending the fully online format of Summer Study you do not need a U.S. immigration visa/status. That is only required for the In-person format.
- Admitted students must first pay their non-refundable deposit to Babson and make whatever deposit is required by NEIA.
- After the deposit deadline has passed for each round (see Key Dates for deposit deadlines), deposited students will receive an email from Babson ISSS (International Student and Scholar Services) with instructions on how to request a Babson Form I-20 (an immigration document that is required to apply for an F-1 student visa).
- After a student submits their Form I-20 request to Babson, the I-20 will be emailed to them. It may take two weeks for Babson ISSS to email the I-20 to the student.
- The student will pay the I-901 SEVIS fee. Information listed on the Form I-20 will be needed to pay the fee.
- The student will then need to schedule a visa appointment with their local US embassy/consulate. Visa processing time varies from a couple weeks or up to a couple months. Students should check the website of the U.S. consulate with jurisdiction over their place of residence for processing times.
Specific questions about U.S. immigration statuses or visas should be directed to Babson’s International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) at isss@babson.edu.
Students who are currently attending high school in the U.S. in F-1 status will likely be able participate in concurrent enrollment, which means they do not need to obtain a Form I-20 from Babson and will not need to apply for a new visa. Questions about concurrent enrollment should be directed to Babson’s International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) at isss@babson.edu.
