Jim has been a remarkable volunteer and mentor to Babson for over 25 years, serving in many roles, most notably as an Executive in Residence for the Babson College Fund (BCF). He significantly contributes to the program’s success by helping students manage part of the College’s endowment and preparing them for careers in finance. His commitment goes beyond the classroom; he regularly meets with students to review investment theses, provides strategic feedback, attends class weekly, and helps recruit new analysts for the program each year. Jim’s guidance has helped elevate Babson’s finance students, many of whom he has hired or assisted in securing competitive industry roles.
As a member and recent Chair of the Stephen D. Cutler Center for Investments and Finance Advisory Board, Jim has played a vital role in shaping the Center’s strategy and increasing its influence on experiential learning programs, thought leadership events, and industry engagement. He was a strong advocate for in-person interviews for BCF students, often traveling long distances to ensure the course was staffed with top talent. His ideas and insights have kept the program innovative and effective, and his presence has provided invaluable continuity in a fast-paced, student-led environment. Jim’s influence has even extended internationally through competitions like the CFA Institute Research Challenge, where BCF students mentored by Jim have gained regional and national recognition.
His volunteer service also involves serving on the 50th Reunion Committee, where he personally contacts classmates to encourage their return to campus for the reunion milestone.
Through decades of dedicated mentorship, strategic leadership, philanthropic investment in the Cutler Center, and personal commitment to student success, Jim has profoundly shaped the Babson finance community—leaving a legacy that continues to influence students, alumni, and the College. Jim’s impact is truly inspiring. Few match his humility, wisdom, and generosity. His unwavering dedication and enthusiastic involvement in Cutler Center programs have made him a vital mentor and advocate. Above all, Jim is deeply committed to developing the next generation of finance leaders—leaving a legacy that will continue to shape Babson for years to come.
