Dr. Timothy Habbershon is the founding director of the Institute for Family Enterprising within the Arthur M. Blank Center at Babson College. As an Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship between 2003 and 2007, he held the President's Chair in Family Enterprising and launched the STEP Project, a global applied research initiative that explores the entrepreneurial process within business families and generates solutions that have immediate application for family leaders. While at Babson, he developed an emphasis on family-based entrepreneurship called Transgenerational Entrepreneurship. He is also a founder of the Telos Group, a boutique consulting firm specializing in entrepreneurial strategy and transitions for closely held firms and family firms. For more than thirty years, Dr. Habbershon has been an advisor, consultant, and coach to ownership and management teams of large family-controlled firms and family offices worldwide, focusing on their family and organizational transitions.
In 2007, Dr. Habbershon joined Fidelity Investments where he is Managing Director focused on generational transitions, succession, and governance. He is also the founder and leader of the Fidelity Center for Family Engagement (FCFE). As a thought leadership center of excellence, FCFE envisions a world where families grow closer as they navigate their financial lives. It achieves this vision by helping families and their advisors build capabilities for engaging around the emotional, relational, and generational aspects of wealth.
Dr. Habbershon received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Grove City College, a Master of Divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and an MBA and a doctorate degree in adult education from the University of South Dakota.
