Mentor Program

The Cutler Center mentor program matches undergraduate and graduate students with industry professionals from across the finance industry. Mentors are paired with a student majoring in finance to enhance the student’s network, help develop their career path, and provide advice, guidance, and feedback. Applications for the 2026-27 academic year are now open through September 18.

Apply now

The Cutler Center mentor program runs from October to May, and mentors commit to a minimum of 6 hours with their mentee over these 8 months. To participate, potential mentors and mentees must complete their respective application forms to help with the matching process.

Once mentors and mentees have been matched, each pair will work together to schedule meetings throughout the program. Participants decide on the communication method(s) best suited for them (email, phone, in-person meetings, Zoom, etc.). To help set the expectations for the relationship, the Cutler Center will provide training materials to help engage mentors and mentees. Participants may also choose to attend various events and programs that the Cutler Center hosts.

Benefits to Students

With access to industry professionals, our finance students gain invaluable perspectives and inspiration from like-minded individuals who have succeeded across various settings and industries. As a mentee, you will:

  • Learn the benefits and purpose of mentorship and its value beyond job placement.
  • Gain confidence in your career strategy
  • Refine networking and communication skills
  • Further develop networks of support that will extend throughout your lifetime

Learn directly from a seasoned value investor
Gary Mishuris, CFA, brings more than two decades of professional investing experience—from Fidelity to Evergreen to leading Manulife’s U.S. Focused Value strategy and founding Silver Ring Value Partners. Students get rare access to someone who has managed concentrated, intrinsic‑value portfolios in real‑world settings.

Through readings from Ben Graham, Warren Buffett, and other foundational thinkers, Gary helps students translate classic value‑investing principles into a personalized, internally consistent investment philosophy. You’re not just learning what great investors did—you’re developing a process you can actually use.

Engage in weekly, discussion‑based learning
The seminar runs virtually on Friday afternoons during the 2026-27 academic year. The format emphasizes conversation, critical thinking, and applying concepts to real investment decisions—ideal for students who want depth, mentorship, and a cohort experience.
