Courteney Smith (she/her) teaches modern European history at Babson College. A historian of Britain and Europe, she has previously taught courses on modern Europe, nineteenth and twentieth century Britain, and the world wars at Boston University. She earned her PhD at BU in 2025, where her dissertation asked when and how ideas about local and national identity shaped Britons' participation in the women's movement. She was co-chair of the Graduate and Early Career Researcher Caucus of the North American Conference on British Studies from 2022-2023 and is the Book Reviews Editorial Assistant for the Journal of British Studies. She holds an MA in History from University College London (2017) and a BA in History and Literature from Harvard College (2013).
